Another Reformation

I must be honest with you. For many years now, my wife and I have felt like we were the only people in the world who thought and acted as we did. Judging by the confused, you-must-be-off-your-rocker looks on people's faces when we explained what we did, what we thought, how we delivered our babies, how we ate, how we raised our children and so on, we were convinced that we were the last of a dying breed. Never was I so happy to be wrong.

I trust that for many of you, this path may not sound so strange. After all, you are reading an article on an "alternative" health website. Perhaps you are half off your rocker too. Therefore, I will risk offending some of you in the hopes that others will continue down the same path that my wife and I know without doubt is God-led and God-honoring.

One of the men whose material I follow extensively is Michael Pearl. Below is an excerpt from one of his articles that illuminates what I am saying.

Once Christian fathers and mothers bolster the courage to stand up and take charge of their lives, there is no stopping them from going all the way to completely reform their families. The reform is personal, as seen by a change in diet, entertainment and personal habits. The reform is economical, as seen by a movement to live debt free, under one’s means rather than right on the edge. The reform is family centered, as seen by the increased size of the families and the structuring of time and activities around the family’s needs. The reform is religious, as seen by the increase in personal and family devotion and holiness. The reform is medical, as seen by a revival of interest in herbs, natural child birth, and personally taking charge of one’s own diagnoses and treatment. The reform is often occupational. Many fathers are moving their families out of the cities and into a simpler lifestyle. More fathers are seen with a hoe in their hand rather than a golf club, and their children by their side rather than business associates. Mothers are seen standing with their girls, wearing aprons smudged with wheat flower, rather than standing in the shopping malls.

If you know that you are being led down a similar path, welcome. There are many of us out here who would love to help. Start with a few hours exploring the website www.nogreaterjoy.org. There you will find an abundance of information on child training and much much more.

Please send me an email and tell me what you think.
